Denise is a retired secondary school teacher having taught both GCE A-levels and GCSEs. She has also been an assessor for newly qualified teachers across Hampshire and an examiner for one of the examination boards. Before doing her teaching degree at the University of Wolverhampton, she worked as an Administrator in the NHS where she provided support to North Birmingham Health Authority.

Denise’s interests are her family, travelling of which she has done lots, gardening and reading. Her biggest achievement was to learn to ski in her 50s and she can now just about manage black runs if the conditions are favourable.

Denise has experienced the dedicated care given by the Mac Unit when they looked after her Mum in 2021 and then the following year, her husband. She feels very passionately about the need for hospice services to be available locally and welcomes the opportunity of being a Trustee for an organisation which is very close to her heart.
