Partnership with Co-op Christchurch Thank you so much to Co-op on Fairmile Road for supporting us this year AND choosing to support us again in 2020! The team have been collecting, selling our Big Bob and Sunny's Journey books, holding fundraising days and encouraging shoppers to sign up to their membership cards so that Co-op can make more donations! This year they have raised an amazing £2,800 for Macmillan Caring Locally! Thank you to the Christchurch Lions Over the years, we have received outstanding support from Christchurch Lions - from fashions shows to fun days they have done it all! Recently, they popped in with a staggering £3,380.19 which they kindly donated to us. We are so grateful to the Lions and all their members, past and present, for the outstanding support they have given to us throughout many, many years....

Not just any Tough Mudder…. this was an M&S Tough Mudder The amazing team at M&S Castlepoint completed the grueling Tough Mudder event in August. They raised an amazing £4,158 for Macmillan Caring Locally and are even talking about doing it again next year!! Thanks so much to everyone at the store for their ongoing fundraising as our charity partner this year!  ...

Patient referrals to our service have tripled in the last ten years.The existing Macmillan Unit was built in 1974 and is now far too small for the number of people under our care. We have been setting aside funds to build a new Unit for many years. We have managed to raise £5m so far, but a new Unit is estimated at £9m.

Our patients receive the best possible care from our dedicated team of professionals and volunteers. Help us to provide them with the best possible facilities too.

Please help us in any way you can to reach this goal, so that we can start the build.

Brief Drugs List for GPs

 

Pain/breathlessness:

Morphine sulphate 2.5-5mg SC PRN (10mg in 1ml injection)

(alternative if taking PO or eGFR<30 – Oxycodone 1 – 2.5mg SC PRN (10mg in 1ml injection))

[Please take background opioid into account when prescribing doses for anticipatories]

Anxiety/distress:

Midazolam 2.5-5mg SC PRN (10mg in 2ml injection)

Secretions:

Glycopyrronium 200mcg SC PRN (600mcg in 3ml injection)

(alternative for secretions: Hyoscine Butylbromide 20mg/ml injection)

Nausea :

Levomepromazine 6.25mg SC PRN (25mg in 1ml injection)

(alternative for nausea: Haloperidol 1.5mg SC PRN (5mg in 1ml injection)

Water for injection

Dexamethasone 3.3mg SC OD-BD (equivalent to 4mg PO) if risk of steroid withdrawal/Addisons during terminal phase.
