You should follow us on
VOLUNTEERS
If you have some spare time and would like to volunteer at the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital, we would love to hear from you. We require Volunteer drivers to pick up and take home patients attending our Day Centre, and we also need Volunteers to help with refreshments for the patients and families on the Ward.
Please call Neal on 01202 477628 if you are interested in being a Volunteer.

GIVE AS YOU EARN
Payroll Giving is a scheme that enables you to give to any UK charity straight from your gross salary (before tax is deducted), and to receive immediate tax relief of up to £4 for every £10 donated.
Payroll Giving is an easy, tax-effective way to give, so it costs you less to give more.
Providing that your employer offers Payroll Giving it could not be simpler. You complete a form which is usually obtained from your Payroll Department or Personnel. The form asks you to give the name of the charity you want to support (Macmillan Caring Locally).
Your employer will forward your completed form to the Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) and deduct from your pre-tax salary the total amount you want to give. Your donation is forwarded monthly to the PGA and they then distribute the gift each month to Macmillan Caring Locally. To find out more about how this works,
GO HERE.
RECYCLE YOUR MOBILE PHONE
Most people have at least one mobile phone sitting in a drawer somewhere in the house. If you do, and would like to do something really useful, why not recycle it with our mobile phone partner SHP?
SHP will offer you a competitive price for your old mobile phone, it will pay 20% extra to Macmillan Caring Locally, and you will receive payment for your phone within 7 days.
The process is really straightforward. You register your details on their website, input the make and model of the phones that you wish to recycle, and they tell you immediately how much they are worth. Then you put your mobile in a jiffy bag, write their freepost address on the front and pop it in the post.
So why not dig out those old phones that you never use? Make yourself some money and make some money for Macmillan Caring Locally.

So if you are thinking of selling your items on eBay, and would like to donate all, or a percentage of the selling price to Macmillan, go to eBAY, list your item/s using 'advanced sell', select Macmillan Caring Locally from the Charity list, and you are done.
If you have any items that you would like to sell to benefit Macmillan, but do not have time to list them on eBay, please give us a call, and we will arrange to collect your items from you, and sell them through our eBay online shop (this only applies if you live within a reasonable distance of Christchurch in Dorset).

LEGACIES
If you are planning to make or amend your will, it is a good idea to seek legal advice and talk through your plans with a solicitor who will be able to advise on the best options available to you. If you already have a will in place and only want to make a minor change, you can do this by adding a Codicil Form.
The following are two examples of ways to support us in your will. A Residuary Legacy and a Pecuniary Legacy.
Residuary Legacy – A Proportion of the Estate
I give (%) of the residue of my real and personal estate which I can dispose of by will in any manner I think proper to Macmillan Caring Locally (registered Charity number 268218), The Macmillan Unit, Christchurch Hospital, Christchurch, Dorset BH23 2JX, and the receipt of the Treasurer of Macmillan Caring Locally shall be a complete discharge to my Executors.
Pecuniary Legacy – A Fixed Sum
I give the sum of (amount in figures and words) to Macmillan Caring Locally (registered Charity number 268218), The Macmillan Unit, Christchurch Hospital, Christchurch, Dorset BH23 2JX, and the receipt of the Treasurer of Macmillan Caring Locally shall be a complete discharge to my Executors.
It is important to ensure that the following wording is also inserted, whichever wording you use:
If at my death any charity named as a beneficiary in this Will or any Codicil hereto has changed its name or amalgamated with or transferred its assets to another body, then my Executors shall give effect to any gift made to such charity as if it had been made (in the first case) to the body in its changed name or (in the second place) to the body which results from such amalgamation or to which such transfer has been made.
Please always give the official Charity name, address and registered Charity number to your solicitor.
Charity Name: Macmillan Caring Locally
Registered Charity No: 268218
Address: The Macmillan Unit, Christchurch Hospital, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 2JX

DONATE YOUR TAX REBATE
Did you know you can elect to donate all or part of any tax rebate you may receive from a self assessment to Macmillan?
If you wish to donate this money to us, all you need to do is fill in the appropriate box in your self assessment form with our registered number XN42259. Please use this code instead of the Charity name. All donations can be Gift Aided and you can choose to make your details known to us, or stay anonymous should you prefer.
SET UP A JUST GIVING PAGE
It is very easy to create a personal Just Giving Page to raise sponsorship for an event, or in memory of a loved one.
Just Giving handles all the payments securely and even sorts out the Gift Aid element of the donation. The funds are then electronically paid into our bank account, cutting down our administration costs.

MAKE EVERYCLICK YOUR HOME PAGE
Raise funds for Macmillan for FREE as you surf the web, shop online, and trade on eBay. With Everyclick you can raise money for your favourite charity by doing the things you already do online every day.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
If you make
www.everyclick.com/mct the page that you use as a search engine rather than Google, everytime you search with it, and then click through to one of the results, Everyclick will give us a penny. That may not seem very much, but when you consider how many web searches the average person does every day - it could add up to a considerable amount.
If you sign up with Everyclick (it costs you nothing) you can monitor how much you are raising for us with each click-through that you do. So please go to
www.everyclick.com/mct and add it to your favourites. Then click away and see the funds clock up.
